There are many different approaches to an oil clean-up, and many have merits for their specified applications.
The use of MUNOX SR® in appropriate situations alleviates the need for laborious techniques such as excavation, extensive costs associated with them, and the disruption of the natural environment and landscape.
Efficiency and effectiveness of MUNOX cannot be understated. The microbes seek out their food source (contaminants), keep multiplying to increase their population (in MUNOX, there are >1.1 trillion colony forming units – CFUs – per liter and that number keeps growing once the product has been applied) and continue their work to metabolize the contaminants until there is no more. The ability of MUNOX microbes to maintain their stamina and to multiply exponentially rest with the advanced technology used in harvesting these healthy pseudomonas strains that metabolize petroleum and petrochemicals.
MUNOX is ideal for both surface and sub-surface treatments. In the case of treating surface contaminants, MUNOX is simply sprayed on, while for sub-surface, it can be applied by drilling or infiltration galleries.
The upside benefits are numerous – cost savings, time efficiency, and sustainability of the environment.
As a follow up to our last Blog, here are two more recent spills that were reported – on March 18, “MS Oliva runs aground on Nightingale Island…Viola has now broken in two and is leaking oil around the island. The ship was carrying 1500 tonnes of heavy fuel oil.” And just the other day, on April 2 (North Dakota)
